Megan Farr
Lecturer in Publishing
Megan Farr bridges the worlds of industry and academia in children’s and YA publishing. As a Lecturer in Publishing at Bath Spa University, she brings 25 years of marketing and publicity experience from companies like Chicken House, Firefly Press, Bonnier Books and Macmillan Children’s Books to the classroom, where she leads modules including Create Lab and The Children’s Book Market. Passionate about widening access to the industry, she enjoys talking about publishing careers in schools and public events, introducing young people to publishing as a career.
Her KESS2-funded PhD thesis at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David explores strategic approaches to internationalising children’s publishing from Wales—a project reflecting her broader interest in how independent and small nation publishers navigate global markets. As a director at Seren Books and active member of IRSCL and IBBY UK, as well as mentor with SYP, she’s committed to supporting emerging voices and fostering cross-border literary connections.
Fluent in Italian with B1-level French and Welsh, Megan is particularly interested in translation studies, multilingual publishing, and how books for young readers travel across cultures. She welcomes connections around independent and small nation publishing, children’s literature in translation, diverse books, and creative approaches to reaching young audiences internationally.
